Choose File > Move to Trash (Command+Delete).

Right-click a selected item and then choose Move to Trash.

Click > Move to Trash.

Drag a selected item to the Trash icon in the dock.

To recover items from the Trash: Click the Trash icon to open it and then drag the desired items out of the Trash window. To recover an item that you just deleted, choose Edit > Undo (Command+Z). To restore selected items to their original locations, choose Put Back (Command+Delete) from the File menu, shortcut (right-click) menu, or menu.

To empty the Trash: Choose Finder > Empty Trash (Shift+Command+Delete), or right-click (or click-and-hold) the Trash icon in the dock and then choose Empty Trash.

To erase a drive securely: Choose Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > select the drive > Erase > Security Options.
